What does telc stand for?
The European Language Certificates-telc. The telc- language test system was developed with reference to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages /CEFR/ of the Council of Europe. Telc was developed and is administered by the non-profit organisation WBT (Weiterbildungs-Testsysteme GmbH - later telc GmbH) which is a member of ALTE - the Association of European Language Certification Organisations - and together with other prestigious organisations such as e.g. the Goethe Institut, the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations or the Alliance Française, sets the standards which characterise the best language examinations in Europe.
The telc certificate can be obtained by passing an exam that tests language skills, placing particular emphasis on communication skills.
