Who organises the telc examinations?
The examinations are organised by accredited centres and examination centres authorised to conduct telc examinations.
The Maritime University of Szczecin organises telc certificate examinations as an entity authorised to conduct these examinations on the basis of a licence granted by the CJO of the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów in April 2024.
Who can take the telc exam?
The telc exam is open to foreigners and Polish citizens permanently residing abroad, regardless of whether, where, how long or how they have prepared.
The telc exam in Polish as a foreign language in a group adapted to the needs of adults may be taken by persons who are at least 18 years old on the day of the exam.
Persons between the ages of 10 and 17 may also take the telc exam in Polish as a foreign language provided that their parent or legal guardian has given their written consent
When is the telc exam considered passed?
The exam result consists of the results of the following test modules:
1. Listening comprehension/ Written comprehension/ Elements of language.
2. Writing.
3. Oral examination.

The test modules "Listening comprehension", "Reading comprehension" and "Elements of language" consist of 59 questions.
The test-taker gets one point for each correct answer, so can score a maximum of 59 points.
Level B1 is a score of 27 to 42 points.
In the "Writing" module at B1 level, a score of 7 to 14 points is required.
In the oral part, a score between 35 and 74.5 points is required to achieve level B1.
All scores "above" indicate B2 level, "below" - A2 (in which case no certificate is issued).

Why do you need a telc certificate?
The telc Polish language examination allows you to obtain a telc GmbH, WBT Weiterbildungs-Testsysteme GmbH (telc) certificate, which confirms your knowledge of the Polish language at a level of at least B1, in the procedure for granting a residence permit for a long-term EU resident.
Telc language certificates are officially recognised by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration as a certificate confirming knowledge of a foreign language, by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as an exemption document from the doctoral examination in a modern foreign language (Regulation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of 26 September 2016) and in the qualification procedure for civil servants (Regulation of the Prime Minister of 16 December 2009 ) and honoured by employers as well as universities at home and abroad.
As of 01.08.2017, The European Language Certificates - telc examinations were included in the ministerial list of professional qualifications for teachers as accredited. Thus, examinations from levels B2 to C2 are recognised in the process of qualifying teachers for their profession, including teaching a foreign language

How can I obtain a telc certificate?
Telc certificates are issued upon successful completion of the examination at the examination venue (the document can be collected in person or by post to the mailing address). The waiting time for the results and certificate is approximately 6-8 weeks.
